Junior Open Water
Course Overview
If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, the PADI Junior Open Water Diver programme is available. The course structure is the same as the Open Water Course, so it is possible for families to do the Open Water Course together, but the pace will be dictated by the youngest family member! Once qualified, a PADI Junior Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 12 may only dive with a PADI professional or a certified parent or guardian to a maximum depth of 12metres.
What do I need to start?
Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, comfortable in the water and between 10 and 14 years old can earn the Junior Open Water Diver Certification. Check out the PADI Medical Form to make sure you don't need to have a medical before you start your course. You must be able to swim 200metres and float or tread water for 10mins unaided.
What will I do?
You'll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving. The course combines some home study, theory lessons in our classroom, theory assessments and practical instruction in the swimming pool before going on to complete four open water dives in the sea.
How long will it take?
All PADI Courses are performance based. This means that you proceed as you demonstrate mastery of the course skills. This allows you to work at a pace that is comfortable for you. In general, however, the course can be completed in four days.
What is included in the course price?
Absolutely everything is included. There are no hidden costs! You will receive your CrewPak with manual, the use of all kit for the course, and your certification once completed. If you require additional sessions over and above the four day course, however, these would be charged for.
When can I start?
The course starts as soon as you receive your Open Water CrewPak! Check out our Course Diary for the next course date or call us!
Where can I go from here?
Why not continue your adventure with PADI's Adventures in Diving programme, your next step in exploring the underwater world!
